StoryPic is an AI platform that transforms your photos into personalized children's stories. You upload a photo of a character (child, pet, or anyone special), choose a story type and artistic style, then our AI creates a complete story with illustrations featuring your characters as heroes.
To create a story: 1) Upload a photo of your main character, 2) Choose from 17 story types (adventure, animal tales, educational, etc.), 3) Select one of 55+ artistic styles, 4) Choose page format (digital or print), 5) Click 'Create Story' and let AI do the magic!
Clear, well-lit photos with a single person or pet as the main subject work best. Choose a photo where the subject faces the camera with their face clearly visible, without sunglasses or hats. Natural lighting produces better illustrations than flash. Avoid dark, blurry, or heavily filtered photos, and avoid images with multiple people in the foreground. Portrait-style photos with a simple background produce the most accurate character representations across all pages. You can also describe a character instead of uploading a photo.
We offer over 55 different artistic styles, including watercolor, Disney Pixar, anime, classic cartoons, pixel art, Van Gogh, comics, and many more. You can browse all styles in our <a href='/artistic-styles' class='text-blue-600 hover:text-blue-800 underline'>artistic styles gallery</a> to see examples.
We have 17 story types available: Adventure, Animal Tales, Bedtime, Educational, Exploration, Fairy Tale, Fantasy, Friendship, Historical, Humor, Mystery, Poem, Sci-Fi, Seasonal, Sports, Superhero, and Values. Each type is tailored to create engaging reading experiences for children.
Yes! You can fully edit the story using our interactive editor. You can: modify text, move text boxes, change fonts and colors, add speech bubbles, generate new images for any page, use inpainting to edit specific parts of images, add stickers and decorations, and reorganize pages.
Click any text box on the page to open the editing panel, where you can modify story text, dialogue, or descriptions. You can customize the font family, adjust font size and color, reposition text boxes by dragging them anywhere on the page, and resize them to fit your layout. Use the Duplicate button to create additional text elements, or add speech bubbles for character dialogue. All text changes are saved automatically.
To generate a new image: 1) Go to the desired page in the editor, 2) Click the regenerate button (circular arrows icon), 3) Choose number of variations (1-4), 4) You can modify the artistic style or camera angle if desired, 5) Click 'Generate' and AI will create new variations. You can then choose the best one.
Inpainting allows you to edit specific parts of an image without regenerating the entire image. To use inpainting: 1) Click 'Inpainting Edit' button, 2) Draw a mask over the area you want to modify, 3) Write a description of the desired change, 4) AI will edit only the masked area, keeping the rest of the image unchanged.
To add a page, click the '+' button in the page navigator or select 'Add Blank Page' from the editor menu. New pages appear after the current page and can include AI-generated content or be left blank. To remove a page, click the trash icon that appears when hovering over it in the navigator β a confirmation dialog will appear since deletion is permanent. You can reorder pages by dragging and dropping them in the navigator. The system requires at least one page at all times.
We offer 7 different formats: Digital Portrait (896Γ1152px) - perfect for mobile viewing, Digital Landscape (1152Γ896px) - optimal for desktop, Landscape Spread (1792Γ1152px) - panoramic image across two pages, A5 Portrait (148Γ210mm) - standard book size, A5 Landscape (210Γ148mm) - wide format for detailed illustrations, A4 Portrait (210Γ297mm) - large premium format for printing, A4 Landscape (297Γ210mm) - extra large format books.
To save your story: 1) Click 'Save as PDF' button in the editor, 2) Choose desired format (digital or print), 3) For premium print formats, images will be automatically enhanced (may cost additional credits), 4) PDF will be generated and downloaded automatically. All stories are automatically saved to your account.
Digital formats (Portrait, Landscape, and Landscape Spread) are free to export and optimized for screen viewing on phones, tablets, and computers. They produce compact PDFs ideal for sharing via email or messaging apps. Print formats (A5 and A4, Portrait/Landscape) are designed for professional-quality physical printing with higher resolution images, bleed margins, and proper color profiles. Exporting in print format automatically enhances illustrations to print-quality resolution, which requires additional credits. The result is a PDF ready to print as a real storybook β a great personalized gift. Most users start with digital and later export to print for their favorites.
You can download any story as a PDF and send it via email, messaging apps, or file-sharing services. Use the built-in social sharing to post directly to Facebook, WhatsApp, or other platforms. If your story is set to public, anyone with the direct link can view it in the StoryPic reader. For a personal touch, download the print-format PDF (A5 or A4) and print physical copies at home or a print shop as gifts. You can also earn bonus credits by sharing your first story.
Yes, the Stories gallery lets you browse public stories created by the StoryPic community. You can search by title or character name, filter by story type and artistic style, and sort by newest, highest-rated, or page count. You can mark stories as favorites, rate them, and use them as inspiration. Only stories explicitly set to public appear in the gallery. Each story card shows the artistic style, character name, creator, and community rating. You can view full stories with illustrations directly in the browser without an account.
Control story visibility from the editor's top menu toggle or by hovering over a story on the Stories page. You can switch between Private (visible only to you) and Public (visible in the community gallery and via direct link). All new stories default to private. Making a story public lets others view, rate, and favorite it, but they cannot edit or copy your content. You can change visibility at any time β switching back to private immediately removes it from the gallery.
StoryPic uses a credit-based system instead of subscriptions. You only pay for the images you generate: Each image generated for a page costs 1 credit, Each regenerated variation costs 1 credit, Each inpainting edit costs 1 credit. Story text is generated for free - you only pay for images. You can see the exact cost for each action before performing it.
Costs are simple and transparent: Generating an image for a page: 1 credit, Regenerating an image (per variation): 1 credit, Inpainting edit: 1 credit. Total cost for a story depends only on the number of pages - for example, a 10-page story costs 10 credits for the initial images.
You can buy credits from the 'Pricing' section or your account. We offer 4 packages: Small Pack: 50 credits, Medium Pack: 250 credits, Large Pack: 500 credits, XXL Pack: 750 credits. Credits never expire and you can use as many or few as you want, whenever you want.
Yes, if you don't have enough credits, you'll receive a notification before any action that costs credits. You can purchase additional credits at any time and then continue where you left off. All your progress is saved automatically.
StoryPic works on all modern browsers including Chrome 88+, Firefox 69+, Safari 15+, and Microsoft Edge 88+. The application is fully responsive and works on desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. On mobile devices, the editor adapts to smaller screens while keeping full functionality. No app installation is required β StoryPic runs entirely in your browser. If you experience display issues, try clearing your browser cache or disabling extensions that might interfere with the editor.
Story text generation takes 30 to 60 seconds for the complete narrative, dialogue, and scene descriptions. Illustrations are then generated on-demand as you navigate each page, taking approximately 30 to 90 seconds per image depending on scene complexity and artistic style. A complete 10-page story with all illustrations typically takes 5 to 15 minutes. You can read and edit the text immediately while images generate in the background. Progress is saved automatically, so you can close the browser and return later.
Yes, security and privacy are top priorities. All stories, images, and personal data are stored using encrypted cloud storage and databases with encryption at rest. Uploaded photos are processed only for character recognition and story generation β never shared with third parties or used for AI training. We comply with GDPR, giving you full control over your data including the right to access, export, and delete your information at any time. Our application uses HTTPS with HSTS, Content Security Policy headers, and secure authentication with email verification. For details, visit our Child Safety page.
StoryPic requires an internet connection to create and edit stories, as the AI text and image generation runs on cloud servers. However, you can enjoy stories offline by downloading them as PDF files, which can be viewed, printed, and shared without internet. PDFs are available in digital formats for screens and print formats (A5 and A4) for professional printing. Stories are automatically saved to your account and accessible from any device when you reconnect.
StoryPic supports story creation in four languages: English, Spanish, French, and Romanian. The AI generates all text natively in the chosen language β not as a machine translation but as original content, maintaining natural prose, culturally appropriate expressions, and age-appropriate vocabulary. The entire interface is also available in all four languages. Story types, artistic styles, and all features work identically across languages. This makes StoryPic ideal for bilingual families or educators teaching languages through personalized storytelling.
The story language must be selected before creation and cannot be changed afterward, because the AI generates text natively in the chosen language rather than translating. To get the same story in another language, recreate it with the same character photo, story type, and artistic style but select a different language. The two versions may differ in specific plot details while keeping the same theme and character. Your original story remains saved alongside any new versions you create.
Reload the page and retry β temporary server load or network issues are the most common cause. Ensure your internet connection is stable. If the problem persists, try a different artistic style or simplify the scene description. Check whether other pages generate successfully to isolate the issue. If generation continues to fail, contact support@storypicbooks.com with your story ID and the failing page number. We will investigate and refund any credits consumed by failed attempts.
First, check your internet connection β images load from cloud servers and need a stable connection. Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to bypass your browser cache. If images still do not appear, clear your cache completely or try a different browser or incognito window to rule out extension conflicts. Some ad blockers may block image loading. If none of these steps work, the images may still be generating β look for a loading spinner. Contact support@storypicbooks.com with your story ID if the issue persists.
The quickest way is the contact form on our Contact page, where you can describe your issue and attach screenshots. You can also email support@storypicbooks.com directly. We respond to all inquiries within 24 hours. When reporting an issue, include your browser name and version, the story ID (found in the URL), and what you expected versus what happened. If a failed generation consumed credits, mention it and we will issue a refund.
